美國總統歐巴馬正在古巴訪問，不過白宮21日排除他和古巴前領導人斐代爾．卡斯楚(Fidel Castro)舉行會談的可能性。
歐巴馬的高層外交政策顧問羅茲(Ben Rhodes)說，美國政府和古巴當局都不曾要求讓歐巴馬和這位89歲的古巴革命領袖會面。
羅茲表示，歐巴馬總統在這趟行程中並未計劃和斐代爾．卡斯楚見面。美方沒提這項要求、古巴也沒有。
斐代爾．卡斯楚領導的游擊隊1959年推翻美國支持的巴蒂斯塔(Fulgencio Batista)政府，他是古巴的前強人領袖，也是古巴總統勞爾．卡斯楚(Raul Castro)的哥哥。他近來已鮮少公開露面，在國營媒體出面的畫面中，斐代爾．卡斯楚坐著輪椅。
不過上週委內瑞拉總統馬杜洛(Nicolas Maduro)訪問古巴時，斐代爾．卡斯楚曾和他見面。委內瑞拉並在歐巴馬歷史性訪問古巴的當天，公布了這張兩人會面的照片。
歐巴馬稍早前在接受美國廣播公司(ABC)訪問時曾說，他可能會和這位古巴前革命領袖會面，表示如果斐代爾．卡斯楚的健康情況許可，他可能會和他見面，他也樂於見面，讓這成為兩國歷史上冷戰篇章的結束，不過他並不清楚斐代爾．卡斯楚的身體狀況如何。
